Toys “R” Us offers iPod trade in options in the store
strapped for cash, but wants to replace the old iPod? Toys “R” Us may be back. According to CNN Money, the company began offering a package to trade for some of their shops to help you replace the device. Toys “R” Us offers to $100.00 for each old iPod entered the store. This money can then be used to purchase a new iPod touch or iPod.
But this is where it gets weird. The program will run until Oct. 23, it is only in participating stores and their offer is based on the make and model.
So it is a good chance that it is probably a giant waste of time, and you get squat for the iPod. But if you're lucky enough to live in one of the areas that this promotion is a place, you can save a few bucks.
This sounds more like a campaign to confuse people into coming into their stores, I hope that the children in this thread, than is the buy-back program. What works, I guess.
Toys R Us iPod Trade In Program
Well this news makes me scratch me head to say the least. Last week Toys R Us announced that they are implementing an iPod trade in program for a limited time. From October 17th to October 23rd 2010 the embattled toy retailer will offer consumers a Toys R Us gift card up to $100 in exchange for you old iPod. Now the press release didn’t specify what models would be accepted or if they needed to be in fair, good or excellent condition, but I would suspect that an first Gen iPod Touch would certainly fetch more than a first Gen Nano.
It also isn’t clear if the gift card is good toward any merchandise, or if you needed to use it to buy a new iPod. Calls to Toys R Us Corporate office didn’t yield any clarification. Keep in mind not all stores are participating so I think it is safe to say that this may be some sort of test to gauge marketability or the possibility of Toys R Us carrying the iPad. Considering the increased distribution partnerships Apple has announced with Walmart and Target, this is something to keep an eye on for sure.
I suggest you call your store before making the trek down to see the big giraffe ,Jeffery, and confirm your location is participating. If your household is anything like mine and you tend to hold onto your old iPods, it may be worth some effort checking out this very limited trade in offer. With the holidays just around the corner it could help you save a couple bucks.
